Hand Signals Explained

Sit: Hold your RIGHT hand flat and horizontal with the ground, palm facing up at waist level. As you say the command “sit” slowly raise your hand up to your shoulder. This movement becomes a full motion with your palm facing up from your waist to your shoulder.
Down: Hold your RIGHT hand flat and horizontal with the ground, palm facing down at chest level. As you say the command “down”, slowly lower your hand down to your knee. This movement becomes a full motion with your palm facing down starting at your chest level and going down to your leg, palm-down.
Heel: You call your pup to “heel” by taking your LEFT hand that is pointed down towards the ground flat against your side and slapping it against your thigh while you say the word “heel”.

Stay: Stay is best used when your pup is either in a sit or stay position for best results. Standing in front of your pup, stretch out your RIGHT hand and move it palm outwards towards the pup, blocking the dogs eyesight from yours while saying the command “stay”.
Come: Teaching your pup to “come” should begin by having the dog in a sit or down, stay position in front of you for best results. Facing your pup, your RIGHT hand should move from your side all the way up to your neck in a slow, full swing motion while saying the word “come”.
Drop it: Holding your RIGHT hand in a fist and pointing at the dog with one finger, say the command “drop it".
